Description

Robert E. Jones, 39, Navy veteran and teacher in the Fort Worth Public schools since 1937 will assume duties as principal of R. Vickery Elementary School. He succeeds Elmo Reeves who resigned to enter business. Jones' appointment marks the first time in some years a member of the teachers' ranks here has been elevated directly to a principal ship. Jones is sixth grade teacher at South Hi-Mount. The new principal was born and reared in Leonard, where his mother, Mrs J. A. Jones, still lives. He received bachelor of science and master of science degrees from NTSTC and served as principal of schools in Newton and Saint Jo before coming here. In Fort Worth he taught in Perter Smith, Oak Knoll and Arlington Heights Elementary schools before entering the Navy from which he was discharged last winter after two years. Jones live with his wife and two children, David 8, and Joe Cy, two months, at 4000 Lovell. In this picture, he is sitting against the wall.
