Description
The American Airlines' Midnight Expediter, a flying post office, stopped at Municipal Airport, Fort Worth, Texas on a demonstration flight. Fort Worth's incoming and outgoing mail was taken to the plane's side in a stage-coach. The scene represents a century of progress for the United States Postal Service. The stage-coach is guarded by armed cowboys as they met the fleet aboard the American Airlines DC-4. The "flying post office" is on it's first cross-country mail. Several people are standing on the plane stairs and sitting on the stage-coach. The airplane displaying 'Flying Post Office, Now-Wings on your letters 5 cent'. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, October 2, 1945.
