Description
Dempsey Key (left) and Technical Sergeant (Tech. Sgt.) Lawrence M. Brown are veterans of the Lost Battalion. The 131st Field Artillery Battalion was captured in March 1942. They spent forty-two months in a Japanese prison before returning home. Mr. Key, who has spent the last nine months as a civilian, decided to reenlist in the military. He is shown seated at a table, signing the paperwork. He is wearing a button-up shirt. Sergeant Brown works in the Fort Worth, Texas recruiting office. He is dressed in his military uniform. Key and Brown were friends in Decatur and members of the old 36th Division. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, October 1, 1946.
