Description
The United States Public Health Service (USPHS) Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas is hosting a Turtle Race. Sponsors with the American Red Cross are placing the turtles in the starting ring. Pictured left to right, on the back row are Mrs. W. B. Todd, Mrs. Kenneth March, and Mrs. Robert I. Jones. Squatting in the front are Miss Nancy Fincher and Miss Betty Coburn. In front of them is a bucket of toy turtles. Letters are painting on the turtles' shells to track the contestants. Mrs. Todd is dressed in a hat, button-up blouse and a skirt. Mrs. March is wearing a floral hat, dress, and a necklace. Mrs. Jones is wearing a hat and a patterned dress. Miss Fincher is dressed in a collared blouse and a skirt. Miss Coburn is wearing a button-up blouse and a skirt. Miss Fincher and Miss Coburn are Junior Red Cross members. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, August 2, 1946.
