After a two-month statewide search for Texas' best 18-year-old baseball player, Fort Worth Cats manager Ray Hayworth congratulates the winner, Raymond "Rickey" Rowe of Dallas, Texas. Left to right are Roger Toler, San Antonio, Texas; Glen Weiser, Darrouzett, Texas; Bill Wood, Anton, Texas; Hayworth; Joe Duffield (behind Hayworth), Mineral Wells, Texas; Troy Kegans, Trent, Texas; Rowe; W. R. Parker, Memphis, Texas; Doyle Conrad, Fort Worth, Texas; Russell Mays, Houston, Texas; Crawford Webb and Rein Browning, Fort Worth, Texas; and Chris Hubbard of Austin, Texas. Mays, of Texas Agricultural and Mechanical College, was the runner up to Rowe. All of the candidates are dressed in their baseball uniforms representing their respective schools. Hayworth is wearing his Fort Worth Cats uniform.
