Description
Captain David Hickman, 90th Division veteran, recruiting officer will assume command of the Army recruiting station. He is being transferred from the Wichita Falls recruiting office to replace Lieutenant Jay Mehaffey, who is retiring from service. Captain Hickman was in the European theater for 20 months. He holds the Silver Star for gallantry in action during the Battle of the Bulge, the Bronze Star with two clusters for meritorious achievement in France, at Falaise Gap and at Dillingen, Germany, the Purple Heart with two clusters, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, Distinguished Unit Badge and the Metz liberation medal. He has been in the Army since February 1940. In this picture, he sits at his desk in his Army uniform, smiling and holding a cigarette.
