Veterans of Foreign Wars Convention. Captain James E. Van Zant, USN, left, greeted by Jim A. Gilbert of Brownwood, Texas. Captain Van Zandt is a past commander in chief of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is wearing a military uniform. Mr. Gilbert, a member of the 36th Division in World War I, is a past commander of the Brownwood post and is now vice commander of District 8 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Gilbert is dressed in a Veterans of Foreign Wars uniform. He is wearing a hat with "Texas" embroidered along the side. There are several men standing in the background.
