Description
A wall clock which has ticked away through almost 70 years of Fort Worth's history has found a home with Miss Grace Mason, adversiting manager of Fakes and Company, who lives at 1515 8th Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas. The clock first began service 1877 at El Paso Hotel, and remained there as that location was changed to the Pickwick and then the Delaware Hotel. Just before Delaware was torn down and replaced by the Westbrook, the late A. J. Howard bought the clock and moved it to Fakes, then at 5th and Houston. When Fakes moved to 7th and Throcmorton the old clock was moved too and in all, it served Fakes for 33 years. The original price of the clock was $2.25 but it is now valued highly as an antique. And it is still ticking away at the home of Miss Mason. The clock is mounted on the wall above the mantel. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, May 26, 1946.
