Officers and directors were elected at a meeting in Fort Worth Tuesday, May 21, of the National Cutting Horse Association. Officers are Ray Smyth, Aledo, Texas, president (in center), Emory Birdwell, Graford, Texas, vice president (right) and Volney Hildreth, Aledo, Texas (left). The association was organized to set up standard rules for cutting horse contests and to encourage better development and breeding horses and for thier presentation at various livestock shows and exhibitions. All three men are standing next to each other against a wall wearing cowboy hats. Hildreth and Smyth are wearing a blazer, shirt, trousers and Birdwell is wearing a shirt and trousers and a tie chain. Smyth is wearing eyeglasses. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, May 22, 1946.
