Description
The Hardin-Simmons University band staged a noisy demonstration in the Texas and Pacific Station during a brief stop en route to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois. Standing left to right are band members Richard Blansett, of Sweetwater, Texas, B. B. McKinney Junior, of Nashville, Tennessee, Forrest Gambill, of Stamford, Texas, and James Sanders, of Abilene, Texas. The musicians are all playing brass instruments and are wearing collared shirts that have "HSU" printed over the left breast pocket, jeans, chaps, and cowboy hats. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition July 14, 1940.
