Leading the May Queen's procession at the Birdville May Fete were six first-graders in white ruffled dresses. Standing in line on a stage, left to right, are Lynda Shurbet, Evelyn Schooler, Carol Ray, Clarice Gene Kinnaird, Joy Nowell and Betty Richardson. The girls are wearing bonnets and are holding baskets. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, May 11, 1946.
