Description
On the first anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, Colonel M. A. Bateman, chief of maintenance control at Wright Field in Ohio, came to Fort Worth, Texas to visit friends who attended the celebration of the day one year ago. He was commissioned in the Army Air Corps 14 years ago, after completing flying school in San Antonio. He has accumulated more than 3,000 hours flying, having served in various fields in the United States and in Hawaii, and as a pilot for the Army mail carriers in 1935. In this picture, Colonel Bateman is shown sitting on a chair, smiling, wearing his military uniform. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, May 9, 1946.
