Strand of yarn leads to burglaries suspect. A strand of green yarn had led Monday to arrest of a 15-year-old boy as a suspect in four burglaries here and the theft of two saddle horses from a riding stable, and officers were seeking another lad, 14, who escaped from his mother as she was bringing him from Midland for questioning. The horses, taken April 21 from the Cobb Park Stables by two boys, were recovered Saturday in a pasture 40 miles west of Weatherford, with the saddles. The stable figured the rental fees had run up to $375. The 15-year-old, Edgar Wilmot Hall, was taken into custody Saturday by Sheriff's Deputies Lamb and Tuck following the green yarn trail. The strand of thread was found snagged on a cut screen at Martin's Cafe, which was entered by burglars April 14 and $34.30 taken. Inquiries revealed a boy wearing a green woolen coat had been seen and the arrest followed. The green coat was found. The boy admitted participation in several burglaries. He told deputies that he and another boy rode the stable horses all day Sunday and Monday a week ago, bound for Pecos, but left them Tuesday morning west of Weatherford because one of them went lame. He said he and his buddy hitchhiked to Midland. The 14-year-old, who had just arrived at a bus station with his mother, ran away when she went into a rest room.
