Description

Image shows Elephant at Forest Park Zoo, "Sugar" raised her snout to trumpet a swan song a few minutes before her execution. She was sentenced to die after a savage attack on her zookeeper. Zookeeper Harry Jackson raised his rifle through the barred windows to end her life. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition July 13, 1940.
