    Description

    H. K. Coale, who has been in the Railway Mail Service since 1908, was appointed Fort Worth superintendent of the service to succeed Clint J. Taylor, who retired. Coale entered the Railway Mail Service because he believed it offered opportunities for young man. With regular public and high school education, he took civil service examinations. He passed them and became a part of the vast service which not only is his life work, but kept him in touch with his son while the latter was an Army first lieutenant overseas and with his daughter, the former Miss Flo Marie Coale, who served 18 months in the Women's Army Corps. Coale confesses he goes hunting and fishing occasionally, but denies having any special avocation or hobby. He is looking forward to the return of his son. His daughter, now Mrs. C. J. Vanderkar of San Jose, California, was married. In this picture, Coale is sitting by his desk. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, March 1, 1946.
