Edward Lewis Sieg, 28, confessed robber, sits nursing a sprained ankle in the county jail. During his court date to plead guilty to the September 28 robbery of the Hickman Hotel, he ran out of the courtroom and out the south door of the building. Court bailiff and city detective fired shots at him at the top of the stairs. Unhurt by gunshots, however, Sieg fell at the bottom of the steps hurting his ankle. He was recaptured and returned to the courtroom.
