Description
Clipping reads "Crash of an 88mm shell into a house 30 feet from his jeep during a visit with ground troops fighting at Bastogne, Belgium, gave First Lieutenant T. R. Pearcy of San Antonio, Texas more of a scare than any flak encountered on more than 25 bombing missions over Europe. Pilot of the Marauder bomber of the 344th 'Silver Streaks' Group of the 9th Air Force, Pearcy visited the front lines with his crew for a week. They arrived in Bastogne fives days after the encirclement had been broken during the German winter offensive. He has received the Air Medal and four clusters for combat missions. His brother, Chief Warrant Officer E. C. Pearcy, is also serving overseas." The photo shows Lt. Pearcy smiling and wearing his military uniform. Star-Telegram Morning Edition March 1, 1945.
