Past and present commanders of the Texas Department of the American Legion, Mark McGee, left, and Henry Love, listen to 1st Lieutenant Earlyn Black, Fort Worth, Texas nurse, describe her life as a prisoner of the Japanese at Santo Tomas Internment Camp, also known as the Manila Internment Camp. This was the largest of several camps in the Philippines in which the Japanese interned enemy civilians, mostly Americans, in World War II. Lt. Black related these experiences at a special Women's Army Corp Recruiting program sponsored by city Legion posts and the Fort Worth WAC Recruiting District in Burnett Park. Mr. McGee and Mr. Love are wearing suits. Lt. Black is standing in between the two men wearing her military uniform. She also has a purse. Star-Telegram Morning Edition March 15, 1945.
