Instead of reverting to an inactive status at the end of his terminal leave, ex-1st Lieutenant Alvin H. Gordon, of Fort Worth, Texas, has re-enlisted as a master sergeant. Gordon has been in the Army about 10 years, was a sergeant when he entered Officer Candidate school, and served as an infantryman in the European theater. Gordon wears the Silver Star with cluster, awarded for gallantry in action in France and Germany. He is shown standing against a bare wall, wearing his military uniform.
