    Description

World War II definitely finished the old type women's club, in Texas at least. This is the conviction of Mrs. Florence Johnson Scott of Rio Grande City, president of the Texas Federation of Women's Clubs, after her first nine months as head of the group of more than 60,000 women. Women's clubs worked with other groups to a greater extent than ever before in bond sales, in Red Cross and the numerous allied civic and welfare programs brought into being during the war. Mrs. Scott, who is county superintendent of education for Starr County, and has authored several books on Texas historical subjects, spoke before the Woman's Club Texas Library Department at luncheon. In this picture, she is sitting by her desk, her right hand is holding a pen. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, January 25, 1946.
