Description
Juanita Jane Heaslet, 13, is one of the many Fort Worth children whose Christmas week celebrations were marred by accidents of various kinds. Juanita is recovering from impact of a.45 caliber slug propelled by the explosion of a giant firecracker in an iron pipe, penetrating her right cheek. It knocked out several teeth and lodged in her tongue. Holiday victim Juanita is laying in a hospital bed, wearing a hospital gown, and reading a magazine. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition December 30, 1945.
