Description
W. E. Peterson(foreground) and R. H. Peterson of Justin, Texas are shown with Shorthorns they sold on Fort Worth market. The two men are standing behind six cows. Prime Christmas beef on the hoof, 1014 pounds of it per animal, was marketed by Fort Worth Wednesday. The Petersons breed registered Shorthorns and ear year cull a group of calves to be finished for the Fort Worth holiday trade. These yearlings weighed the heaviest of all their shipments except one and brought $17.35 per hundred, the ceiling. W. E. Peterson recalled that this was the highest price received by them, and that one lot marketed previously that outweighed these sold for only about $66 each, bringing 6 or 7 cents a pound in a depression year. Sale of the cattle show was made by T. A. Nored. Star-Telegram Morning Edition December 18, 1945
