Image shows The Polytechnic High School basketball team faced off against their district rivals, Riverside High School. The Poly Parrots started off slow, missing their first twenty-three shots. Other players are left to right Bob Fannin (Poly - 5), Floyd Berry, (Riverside - 4), unidentified (4) and two additional basketball players are shown to be in skirmish in basketball game. The half ended at a 5-5 tie. The Parrots came out of the locker room, angry with their first half misses, and managed to win the game 20-16. West scored 11 of his team's 20 points. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition January 8, 1940.
