Veteran Charner D. Skains of Galveston, made 43 missions with the 43rd Bomb Group in the Pacific is using part of his newly acquired civilian time to visit two aunts and uncles Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Bullock and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Skains. Mr. Charner Skains, was a staff sergeant gunner with the 64th squadron of the "Ken's Men" group. His ship was hit 23 times and crash landed once, but none of the crew was injured. The ship was a lead ship for the squadron. Skains picked up nine battle stars and the Air medal with two clusters during his year overseas. In the picture he appears to be in front of a wall, he is wearing a suit, collared shirt, and tie. He appears to be smiling.
