Description

Looking back over 38 years of post office work, J.L. Hornsby, 67, retiring foreman of the parcel post division , cast a prediction Wednesday during his first day of retirement. The gentle- mannered postal worker, recalling experiences and improvements to the mail service under four postmasters, expressed his belief that the next innovation would be air service for a parcel post. All air borne mail now requires first class postage. During his years with the post office Hornsby served as a substitute mail distributor, a special clerk, foreman of the city delivery, and from there to this parcel post job which he has held for the last 17 years. In the picture you can see Mr. Hornsby, in front of a wall , sitting down on a chair. He is crossing his arms and wearing a suit and eyeglasses.
