Description
Basil Owens, Chief Fire Controlman, veteran of more then seven years of service in the Navy, has arrived in Fort Worth to assume duties at the Navy recruiting station in the U.S. Courthouse, where he will succeed Chief Petty Officer Paul LeMay. Chief Owens of Windom, has served a total of five years in overseas duty. He was aboard the West Virginia when it was bombed and sunk at Pearl Harbor and spent 14 months aboard the destroyer Farragut at Coral Sea, Guadalcanal, and the Northern Solomons. He also served aboard the USS Young for 10 months in the Aleutian area. Mr. Owens is wearing his Navy hat and a suit.
