Description
Lieutenant J. D. Ford, bomb disposal officer aboard the battleship USS Texas, for 30 months, has returned to Fort Worth to spend his leave with his wife and parents, Mr. and Mrs. Steve D. Ford, 428 Virginia Place. Lt. Ford participated in the support of four D-Day invasions, two in the European Theatre of Operations and two in the Pacific. He reported that the Japanese offensive was much heavier than the German. At Okinawa the crew held their battle stations for fifty-five days straight. However, the only hits the battleship received were at Cherbourg, France. Lt. Ford is looking to dock the second oldest battleship in the United States fleet. At the end of his leave in December, he will begin working for an oil company. In the picture you can see lieutenant Ford standing in front of a wall wearing his uniform.
