Description

Postman Sam J. Smith has been delivering letters in Fort Worth, Texas, for 39 years. All that time Christmas seals have been sold through the mails to finance the nation's tuberculosis crusade. While early solicitations brought in only a few hundred dollars, the Fort Worth Tuberculosis Society intensified its efforts and reached the $23,000 high mark in 1944. The goal for 1945 is $25,000. Mr. Smith is shown in his postman uniform, carrying a bundle of letters. He has a messenger bag over his left shoulder. Behind him is an advertisement for Christmas seals.
