Description
Three-year-old Tamie Dane's childhood world, guns had always been made of wood. But Saturday morning, Tamie Dane learned of another kind. He is in critical condition at Saint Joseph's Hospital, with a bullet hole through his left chest just above his heart. The shot was from a.22 caliber rifle. Tamie, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Miller of 124 Cottonwood, was playing with his toy gun at the neighborhood home with two playmates, Donnie and Edwin, sons of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Morgeson of 137 Cottonwood. Mrs. Morgeson said the three children had been playing "guns" for about an hour when all of a sudden she heard a "pop". She didn't think anything of it. Tamie came to where Mrs. Morgeson was, crying. She picked him up noticed a blood streak from the back room and a hole in his coat. She then ran with Tamie in her arms to his mother. Tamie was taken in a ambulance to the hospital. Physicians at the hospital said with good luck Tamie might live to recount his first experiences with guns that shoot.
