Description
Copy of a print from "The War of the Nations," printed by the New York Times. The image shows the German and Allied delegates standing outside of a railroad car on a line near Compiegne, France. Generalissimo Ferdinand Foch, carrying portfolio, is surrounded by staff officers of the German delegation. In the railroad car is where the conference took place in which armistice terms were discussed to end World War I. Text below the image reads (partially obscured): "Marshal Foch, carrying the signed armistice...to take the train for Paris."
