Private first class William K. Shelton. Shelton is shown sitting in a couch, smiling widely and looking off to the side. He is dressed in his military uniform which includes a Combat Medical Badge that was awarded to him recently. He received the badge due to the work he did as a medical aid during a year overseas. He also has a Purple Heart for wounds recived in action at Metz, France, September 14, 1944, when both of his legs were broken by shrapnel from enemy artillery fire as he was serving as medical aid man for a machine gun section. He is the son of Mrs. A. J. Shelton.
