    Description

    The first students to graduate from Texas Wesleyan College (T. W. C.) under the G. I. Bill of Rights plan for educating returning veterans are, left to right, Carl Gilkerson, Charles Fortson, and Grady Barnes. Mr. Gilkerson attended T. W. C. until 1942 when we he entered the Army Air Forces as a ground instructor and Private First Class. He is receiving a Bachelor's of Science in Music. Mr. Fortson joined the Army Engineers in 1943 and served fifteen months in Italy and Africa. After a medical discharge, he returned to T. W. C. to earn a Bachelor's of Administration in English. Mr. Barnes left T. W. C. in 1941 and served with the 443rd Antiaircraft Group. He is graduating with a Bachelor's of Science in Music. All three graduates are dressed in suits under their cap and gown.
