Mrs. George W. Baines is an English born resident of Mansfield, Texas. The 91-year-old was born Annie McIntosh on October 29, 1854, in the seaport town of Sunderland, England. When she was twelve years old, she crossed the ocean on a sailboat to come to America. She received her education at the Amanda School in Houston, Texas, one of the early day schools that preceded public education. At the age of 82, she became partially blind and learned to type. She is shown sitting on a bench, wearing a floral dress and a brooch.
