Description

A terminated leave ended the visit of two brothers who had not seen each other for two years. The brothers are Lieutenant Jack Lyons, husband of Mrs. Mary Dillin Lyons, and Lieutenant Colonel Burton Lyons (pictured), husband of Mrs. Betsy Walton Lyons. Formerly attached to the 11th Armored Division of General Patton's army, Lieutenant Lyons left for Harmon General Hospital, Longview, where he is undergoing treatment for wounds received at Lenz. Colonel Lyons was assigned to Lieutenant General Sir William J. Slim's British 14th Army as a staff member with special duties as an operations officer. He was with the British force for 18 months, later being transferred to headquarters of China-India-Burma theater as intelligence officer. Colonel Lyons entered service with the 144th Cavalry of the National Guard in 1940. He was the commanding officer of the unit. Both soldiers are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Lyons. In this picture, Colonel Lyons is standing with hands on hips. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, August 11, 1945.
