Description
Lieutenant James M. Floyd, who was released from the Navy on July 3 after 30 months' service, was elected commander of Bothwell Kane post of the American Legion. The new commander and other officers named at the meeting will be installed September 12 and a stag party will be given for them. Committees of the post will be appointed by Floyd at the meeting. A recruitment drive also will be launched to raise membership of the post from 730 to 2,500 in the next year. The 26-year-old post Floyd will head is one of the oldest in Texas and the largest in North Texas. A Navy veteran of World War I and II, Floyd is a longtime member of the post. In this picture, he is wearing suits and standing against the wall. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, August 9, 1945.
