Description
On his 13th mission on September 9, 1944, Staff Sergeant Daniel B. Breckenridge's Flying Fortress was fatally hit over Dusseldorf, Germany, forcing the crew to bail out. He was captured and interned in Stalag Luft 4-B until February 4, 1945, when the prisoners began an 86-day march in front of the advancing Allies. The prisoners were liberated on April 24. Sergeant Breckenridge returned to Fort Worth, Texas, a few weeks ago, and is spending his 60-day furlough with his mother and brother. The B-17 gunner is a graduate of Paschal High School and was a student at Texas Tech when he enlisted three years ago. He is shown standing against a bare wall, wearing his military uniform.
