    Description

    O. F. Newman and his daughter, Mrs. C. L. Brown, father and sister of Corporal James E. Newman, prepare some of the corporal's mail for his reading. More than 700 letters and telegrams have been received by the survivor of three years in a Japanese Prison camp, who, recovering from tuberculosis and malnutrition incurred there, is given a chance to get well by his physicians. Father and daughter are sitting on a couch, each with a letter in their hand and their laps full of letters and telegrams. There are more letters next to them on the couch. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, July 9, 1945.
