Description
After spending a 30-day leave in Fort Worth, Charley R. Davis, aviation painter third class, will return to the West Coast for sea duty. His wife and three daughters, Jeanene, Nancy and Jan, are visiting here from Houston at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Davis. He spent 14 months out of 16 on a carrier in the Pacific. He participated in the battle of Leyte Gulf, liberation of the Philippines and Iwo Jima. Unfortunately, his brother, Private First Class Thomas O. Davis, was killed while fighting with the Marines on Iwo Jima. Davis is shown in uniform standing by a bare wall. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, July 3, 1945.
