Description
Jack McManis of San Diego, playing the brand of tennis that zoomed him to the ninth ranking spot in the nation, won the men's singles of the Texas Sectional Tennis Tournament at Colonial Country Club in against Dr. Fred West of Fort Worth, Texas Christian University Bible instructor and tennis coach. McManis, seeded No. 1 in the tournament, was pushed all the way by the steady, well-paced shots of Dr. West. McManils is shown getting ready to play standing at the end of the tennis court with racket in hand. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, July 2, 1945.
