Winners in the contest for miniature model planes held at Sycamore Park July 1st afternoon were, left to right, Maurice Stangler, Dallas, junior speed; George Bond, Dallas, senior beauty; Ed Alexander, junior beauty; and V. (Tex) Russell, senior speed. The four winners are standing next to each other holding their model airplane. The contest was sponsored by the American Model Engineering Company and was witnessed by more than 2,000 persons. Eighteen prizes totaling $235 in war bonds and stamps were awarded by Fort Worth business men. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, July 2, 1945.
