    Description

    Blond, 17-year-old Mary Cunningham of El Paso, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. C. L. Cunningham, is playing at the Texas sectional tennis tournament at Colonial Country Club. She entered in women's single playing against Ethel Norton of San Antonio, one of the top ranking women players in Texas, and lost. However, she is also entered in junior girls' singles, women's doubles, junior girls' doubles and mixed doubles. She will face Patty Nixon in the women's single. They have met four times in tournament play and Miss Nixon has always emerged victorious on all occasion. Mary and Miss Nixon will play together in both the women's and junior girls' doubles. They are rated seventh nationally as a junior girls doubles team. Mary is shown here ready to hit the ball at the tennis courts.
