Description

Private First Class (Pfc.) George W. Griffin, veteran of 18 months with the 15th Air Force in Italy, is pictured here. He is shown dressed in uniform, standing against a bare wall, facing front, and posing for the camera. Griffin worked in the ordnance department of a bombardment group that was cited by the president twice. When he enlisted in December 1942 he was working in a textile mill in Hillsboro, Texas. He is spending a 30-day furlough with his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. David E. Wilbanks, and his mother, Mrs. Maude Griffin of Hillsboro, Texas. He will report to Fort Sam Houston July 2. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, June 27, 1945.
