Description

Two brothers sworn into Navy together; 4 Now in service. When Deverle, left, and James Frederick Brannon were sworn into the Navy Thursday, they added the third and fourth stars to their family’s service flag. Deverle, who will be 18 on June 26, waited for his brother to reach his 17th birthday, which was Tuesday, so that htey could enlist together at the Navy recruiting station. Two other brothers, already in service, are Sergeant Homer P. Brannon, 24 and Private First Class Donald T. Brannon, 21, who are with the cavalry and the Army Air Force (AAF), respectively. They are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Brannon. The brothers are shown standing side by side. Published in The Fort Worth Star-Telegram Morning Edition June 24, 1945.
