Description
Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima is a famous war-time photograph taken by Joe Rosenthal on February 25, 1945. Posing with an enlarged technicolor print of the picture, left to right, are Technical Sergeant Keyes Beech, pharmacist's mate second class John H. Bradley, and Marine Private First Class Rene A. Gagnon. Petty Officer Bradley and Private Gagnon were identified as two of the six men that participated in the flag raising. Sergeant Beech landed with the Marines on Iwo Jima as a combat correspondent. He is accompanying the men for appearances in the interest of the mighty 7th. All three men are dressed in their military uniforms.
