    Description

Lieutenant Stewart W. Hellman is an officer in the United States Navy. He was stationed on Mount Suribachi when he saw the American flag being raised over the island of Iwo Jima by the six Marines. The scene he personally witnessed has made photographic history and is now being used in the 7th War Loan Drive. Lieutenant Hellman purchased the 4,500th reproduction of the flag raising from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. He is shown admiring the photograph. Lieutenant Hellman is home on thirty-day leave, visiting his wife and four children. He is dressed in his military uniform.
