Mrs. W. C. Poole, youthful mother of B-29 gunner missing in action over Saipan, looks at a photograph of her son. The Mother's Day corsage Sergeant W. C. Poole Junior sent, aroused false hope for his safety until a check revealed the order was placed before he went on his last mission. Mrs. Poole is sitting on a couch, holding and looking at a picture of her son. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, May 14, 1945.
