Clipping: "1945 Junior High Citizenship Award Winners Announced. Winners of the 1945 citizenship awards, given by the three Fort Worth chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution to two outstanding students of each of the city's junior high schools, were announced Wednesday. The presentations are made each spring by the organization at programs in the schools. This year's winners, their schools and the DAR chapter making the awards are: Jeanette Cole and Jimmy Bass, Rosemont; Arlene Lisman and Garnett Ryon, Ernest Parker; Marilyn Brachman and John Halter, McLean; Elmo Reeves and Georgia Mae Cloud, Handley; Dan Wall and Myrtle Mayner, Diamond Hill; Wanda Wilks, Lena Pope Home; J. W. Renfro and Pat Lucas, P. P. Elder, and Dick McKess and Ruth Butts, Meadowbrook, all Mary Isham Keith Chapter. James Fritts and Maxine Buchanan, Amon Carter Riverside, and Berney Williams and Ann Tidball, W. C. Stripling, Fort Worth Chapter. Diane Sweatman and Harry Rosenstein, E. M. Daggett, and Beverly Sone and Ronald Nelson, William James, Six Flags Chapter. The Mary Isham Keith Chapter also presented awards to a representative of the Fort Worth Boys Club, C. W. Bynum, and the winner in an essay contest on 'Americanism,' Kenneth Mathis, of William James Junior High School." Published Star-Telegram Eve. May 23, 1945. Four of the D.A.R. award winners are left to right: Elmo Reeves, and Georgia Mae Cloud, from Handley, Texas; Wanda Wilks and Jimmy Bass. Elmo is wearing a sport coat, a light-colored collared shirt, and houndstooth trousers. Georgia Mae is wearing a dress with a ruffled collar and skirt pockets, and silk or nylon stockings. Wanda is wearing a striped short-sleeved dress with the skirt gathered at the waist and eyelet-trimmed ruffles on the empire bodice and eyelet around the skirt Jimmy is dressed in a plaid dress shirt, a houndstooth sport coat and dark suit pants. The children are in front of a Venetian blind-covered set of windows.
