Description

C. L. Ely, Junior, Aviation Radioman Third Class. Mr. Ely shown in a picture wearing a military uniform. He holds the Air Medal with a citation from Vice Admiral Mitscher for distinguishing himself as gunner-radioman on a Grumman Avenger during aerial strikes in supporting landings on Leyte and Luzon and strikes against Formosa, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, and other Nasei Islands. His wife is the former Miss Catherine Dunn, to whom he married in De Leon, Texas.
