Description
DFC Hero Moved By Tribute of Corregidor Nurse. Although Lt. Robert Richardson of Waco was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) for shooting down three Japanese planes, he says the tribute that really moved him was paid by a Corregidor nurse who told him that she and other nurses disobeyed Japanese orders to watch his fighter squadron over their internment camp in Manila. Veteran of two tours of duty in the Pacific area, he is now on 30-day leave, visiting his mother, Mrs. Virginia Richardson. Photograph of Lt. Richardson in his military uniform. Published Fort Worth Star-Telegram Morning Edition April 16, 1945.
