Description
Portrait of Mr. Charles Cornish who was given a medical discharge from the Marines after suffering severe leg wounds on Guadalcanal. He was with the 6th Marines and was a participant in the invasion of Guadalcanal and Tulagi. Malaria and his wounds laid him up for six months and he feels himself fortunate. Cornish hospitalized for a time in Texas and "fell" for the big state and is making it his home. His original home was St. Paul, Minnesota. Now he works as a switch-man for the T&P Railway Company. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, April 6, 1945.
